December 2014

As usual December is primarily focused around the holidays...lots of prep and lots of activities.

Nigel and I enjoyed his company's annual Christmas party.  There is a photographer on site to take a nice professional photo.

As an early Christmas gifts to ourselves, we finally purchased a new fridge and replaced our washer and dryer.  Our old fridge worked fine but it was much too small for our expanding family so we got one of the largest ones we could find.  Our old washer was on its last legs (sniff - I loved that thing) so we had to replace the set.

Lots of logistics getting a new fridge.  Gotta take the food out and store it somewhere else for awhile...because the new fridge can't be plugged in and fired up for 3 hours after delivery!

Right after the old fridge got removed.....

....and Voila, the new one!

The fancy new set

Our Elf on the Shelf - Nick - returned.  He hasn't been up to much mischief, primarily watching and observing the kids, but he did try and play the piano....

...and finish decorating our gingerbread house....

....he seems to like the icing!

Despite my continuously busy work schedule, home schedule, and holiday schedule I managed to sneak in some time to make my annual shortbread cookies. Yum

This year my dad made Nigel and I a Christmas calendar.  A gift every day for 24 days....so far has included an assortment of mini wines, beers, liquors, and chocolates! Perfect.

Neela was tasked with designing her own chocolate factory for school. She is studying Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  We thought it came out great....complete with shadowbox rooms full of candy and an actual circulating chocolate tower.

Ashton's class held its annual Kindergarten craft day.  Nothing like making 8 crafts in one hour with 60 other kids.  Lots of glue...and glitter!

We took the kids to visit Confederation park. The lights were so pretty, but it was extremely icy there so we couldn't venture too far into the park.  We hope to return before the end of the month.

Our front yard trees -- so pretty covered in frost and lights

A daytime shot.  Lots of frost.

Finally, Nigel went to volunteer in the classroom for the very first time (yes, ever) and helped Neela's class build gingerbread houses.  He survived and had lots of fun. ;)
