Per tradition my family joined us to 'celebrate' in costume and the evening started out great, with unusually mild weather (coupled with a Friday night) creating lots of action out on the streets. It was one of our busier years for trick-or-treaters.
I dressed up as a Bunny:
The kids kept it traditional (and much simpler this year) going as a Devil and a Witch:
The traditional family picture before kicking off the night:
What is missing is the traditional candy shot where we all gather to oogle the collected goodies. We never made it that point in the evening. As soon as the kids got home to look over their loot, Ashton slipped and smashed into the coffee table and split open his chin.....in a way we knew was not good.
Soooo, Halloween ended with a crash (literally)...a scare (definitely)....and a trip to the ER (unfortunately).
The good news is all the kids in the city were busy trick-or-treating so it was a relatively quick trip through emerg. Nigel took Ash and it was a toss-up between gluing his chin or suturing it; eventually doctors decided to try the glue.
We hope it heals nicely for him and we are glad it wasn't worse.
Something we only got to enjoy after all the hoopla was a craft we made together. Instead of carving pumpkins this year we carved different eye shapes into cardboard tubes....and put glow stix inside of them.
