Another year, another round of labourious yard work for us. This year we decided to start with the front yard. We needed to fill our big garden with a variety of flowers and shrubs, dig out the old dead tree in the middle of the front yard (see first picture below) and purchase a new established tree. Check, check, and ...tree is on the way!
The start of planting. We put in six new shrubs/bushes (globe pine, blue star juniper, burning bush, lilac, dogwood and willow). All of them are awesome!
New shrubs/bushes
Neela has been a big help with the yardwork
Ashton enjoys watching!
All of the new plants are in. Flowering baskets are hung. Let's hope it doesn't dump snow in a week like it did last year after I got all of the flowers planted.
Step-by-step we are slowly filling it up. Lots of work!
Neela has her own shovel, so she can assist!
We finally got out the old/dead tree....and Nigel and Neela set to work digging a massive hole for the new massive tree which is set to arrive next weekend. The digging wouldn't have been so bad except we live in Rocky Ridge. The neighborhood is called that for a reason. The soil is mostly clay and it is FULL of rocks!
Stay tuned for a lot more yard work pictures.
After the trees arrive we have to tackle our back yard! Eep.
